NEWS: APS Participating in Offshore Wind Turbine Design Guidelines Working Group
APS Corporate Scientist, Dr. Marty Pollack is participating in the development of design guidelines for offshore wind turbines. This working group was organized by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) and the Department of Energy (DOE) at a workshop held at NREL during October, 2009. Dr Pollack is a nationally recognized expert in vibration control and acoustics and will be focusing on vibration issues that could impact turbine structural integrity. He will help ensure that the lessons learned from APS's current projects on offshore wind turbine vibrations and acoustics are integrated into the guidelines.
